09Turns and Permutations (Safely)

Link turns vs impact turns; avoid double turns. Perm types for CPs/Ks.

  • Link turn: accept impact, deny you cause it.
  • Impact turn: accept link, flip the impact’s value.
  • Never do both on the same argument (double turn).
  • Perms: do both; plan then alt; alt then plan; do all non-competitive parts.

Perm scripts (ready-to-read)

Perm do both: Execute the plan and the alternative; the alt is a method of evaluation that can coexist with policy action. No opportunity cost.
Perm plan then alt: Implement the plan immediately; evaluate and continue the alt method to avoid link offense.
Perm alt then plan: Adopt the alt framing first to resolve the link, then implement the plan under that framing.
Perm do the non-competitive parts: Adopt only the non-competitive elements of the alt that do not require rejecting the plan.
